Chicago Spring Events You Won’t Want to Miss

Chicago natives and newcomers alike understand that April is the time that we finally emerge from hibernation and begin to get back outside. If you’re anything like us, you must be itching for some warmer weather!  Fortunately, the change of season means that there’s no shortage of fun to be had around town. Shake off those winter blues, Chicago, and get ready for action.  With all sorts of festivals and events scheduled throughout the spring, it’s time to get off that couch and get back to exploring all that this beautiful city has to offer.  Here are a few events we’re looking forward to this Spring:

Spring Events Around Chicago

Great Chicago Egg Hunt

When:  Sunday, April 16

Where:  Maggie Daley Park

This is the inaugural year of The Great Chicago Egg Hunt, which is a collaborative effort by the folks at Maggie Daley Park and Medieval Times. The event is open to kids between the ages of 1 and 12, and they’ll be vying for a total of 1,000 eggs. Parents will enjoy the Middle Ages theme, which will include a variety of crafts and games, as well as live sword fighting demonstrations. The cost of admission is $5 per participant, and we encourage you to come early if you would prefer not to use public transportation.

Race to Wrigley

When:  Saturday, April 29

Where:  Wrigley Field, Wrigleyville

Nothing says Spring like a beautiful day at Wrigley Field.  March with your fellow Cubs fans in this 3.1 mile trek through Wrigleyville for this annual benefit for Cubs Charities.  The event will wrap up in style, finishing in the Cubs outfield.  The first 100 people to raise more than $500 will receive a signed ball from one of this year’s Cubs players.

Spamilton

When:  Through Monday, May 29

Where:  Royal George Theatre, Lincoln Park

It seems that all you hear about these days is the great Broadway hit, Hamilton.  But, have you heard of Spamilton?  This parody of the musical Hamilton has hit Chicago with rave reviews.  It’s a satire that replaces the central character of Alexander Hamilton with the creator himself, Lin-Manuel Miranda, as he struggles with ubiquitous fame and Disney dollars.  Trust us – you won’t want to miss this one!

Chicago Critics Film Festival

When:  Friday, May 12

Where:  Music Box Theatre

Film buffs, this event is a can’t-miss addition to your spring 2017 social calendar. Want to see some of the hottest unreleased films?  The Chicago Critics Film Association is hosting their sixth annual film fest where viewers can catch this year’s most highly anticipated films before they hit wide release.

Beer Under Glass

When:  Thursday, May 18

Where:  Garfield Park Conservatory, East Garfield Park

If you’ve ever wanted to try every local craft brewery around Chicagoland, this one’s for you!  Delight your tastebuds and skip the barhopping. Instead, kick off Craft Beer Week with a cold one at the gorgeous Garfield Park Conservatory. Of course, we can’t resist the urge to remind you to enjoy this event responsibly. The Windy City has some of the most efficient and convenient public transportation in the country. Take advantage of it!

Well, Chicago, welcome back the sun!  We look forward to celebrating the season with all of you. Do you have an event that you’d love to share with the team? Contact us at (847) 226-8681 and tell us all about it!
