Can’t – Miss Oktoberfests in & Around Chicago

Though Halloween and Thanksgiving may be the most notable Fall occasions, in Chicago, we are also huge fans of Oktoberfest!  Get into the fall spirit with all of the fantastic, fun-filled Fall events in and around Chicago this year.  All of the city’s best breweries and bars are ready to party with the best beer and food as we all welcome the colorful change in season.  So, although many have already begun their Oktoberfest festivities, you still have plenty of opportunities to check out some of Chicago’s most festive harvest-themed events. Here’s a list to get you started!

Chicago Oktoberfest Events

Fire-tober Fest

When:  Saturday September 23

Where:  Joe’s Bar, River North

There’s even a special Oktoberfest for sports fans!  Celebrate the season with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club’s Fire-tober Fest.  This event will feature beer from local breweries and a buffet, as well as a complimentary bottle of Heineken and commemorative gift for all attendees.  

 

Oktoberfestiversary

When:  Saturday September 23

Where:  Dovetail Brewery, North Center

This outdoor bash will surely put you in the Fall spirit.  Dovetail Brewery and Begyle Brewing will team up for Oktoberfestiversary.  The event will feature live music, food trucks, and you guessed it, plenty of special release beer!  Food will be served up by Chicago Pizza Boss Food Truck, Bopbartruck, The Cookout On Wheels, Bruges Brothers and the Empanada Bike.  All proceeds will benefit the Chicago Mosaic School.


Haymarket Oktoberfest

When:  Saturday September 23

Where:  Haymarket Pub & Brewery, West Loop

If you’re looking to have a good time while saving a buck, head to the West Loop brewpub Haymarket.  Twenty dollars will get you a stein, a pour of Oktoberfest beer, a mini-brat and a pretzel!  You can even rock those suspenders and lederhosen with their Bavarian costume contest.  

 

Revolution Oktoberfest

When:  Friday September 29 – Saturday September 30

Where:  Revolution Brewing, Logan Square

Revolution Brewing is taking its German beer celebration to the streets this year, at Logan Square.  Festival-goers will enjoy fresh Oktoberfest beer and live music from indie rockers Real Estate, punk singer-songwriter Jeff Rosenstock and local hip-hop duo Air Credits.  Donerman and the Radler will be serving up sausages and other German fare.  A portion of event proceeds will benefit the Friends of Goethe School.  


Dusek’s Blocktoberfest

When:  Sunday October 1

Where:  Thalia Hall, Lower West Side

This family-friendly, community block party hosted by Dusek’s will hit the street outside of Thalia Hall.  There will be drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), food and live music with sets from Sadar Bahar, Specter, Sonorama, Fanita Banana, Numero Group DJs, Communicator, Alicia Serrano and Peter Croce.  

 

St. Alphonsus Oktoberfest

When:  Saturday September 30 – Sunday October 1

Where: St. Alphonsus Church, Lakeview

Come out and greet Fall with a stein of beer in one hand and a giant pretzel in the other at the St. Alphonsus Oktoberfest.  The event will take place outside of the St. Alphonsus Church and feature plenty of brews, including a craft beer tasting, as well as lots of fun activities and entertainment for the whole family.

With Oktoberfest activities nearing the horizon, it’s official – Autumn is here, and it’s bringing beer and food-filled celebrations to every corner of the city.  We can’t wait to strap on our suspenders to check out these exciting events, and we look forward to seeing all of you, our friends and neighbors, out there!
