Why Rosewood Beach in Highland Park is One of the Area’s Best-Kept Secrets

Rosewood Beach in Highland Park is perhaps one of the area’s best-kept secrets. It is such a gorgeous and relaxing oasis away from all of the hustle and bustle that circulates within the city, but many newcomers are shocked to learn that Chicago even has beaches. For whatever reason, these lakeside gems only seem to be a topic of conversation for locals, but trust us when we tell you that places like Rosewood Beach offer all of the benefits of a long-distance getaway.

Our stunning Rosewood Beach is a national award-winning beach located right here in your own backyard along the shores of Lake Michigan.  Whether you’re looking for a summer swim, a location to host your next special event, or an autumnal, ecological encounter, Rosewood Beach has something for absolutely everyone.  Here are just a few more reasons residents are head over heels for this charming city getaway:

The Coves

Rosewood Beach is best known for its unique shoreline.  The beach features three protected coves that are all intended to entertain and accommodate varying interests or activities.  There’s the recreation cove and beach that features volleyball and play areas, the guarded swimming cove and beach for all of your favorite seaside pastimes (e.g. sunbathing, swimming, sandcastle building, etc.), and the nature cove and passive beach area that is used for special, ecological and nature-centered programs.  There’s also a lovely boardwalk for shore side strolls that connects all of the beach areas and facilities, running the entire length of Rosewood Beach.

Stunning Facilities

The amenities and facilities that accommodate beach-goers are absolutely top-rate.  Through a stunning restoration project that was completed in 2015, Rosewood boasts a one-of-a-kind beachfront Interpretive Center that sits nestled against the wooded bluffs.   The gorgeously designed center accommodates up to 50 people at a time and can be rented out for events or gatherings.  Rosewood even provides special nature-themed birthday party packages for all to enjoy!  Other updated amenities include picnic rentals, concessions, restrooms and guard buildings.

Programs & Year-Round Fun

It turns out, beaches are great for more than just swimming!  There are still so many exciting things that you can do once the summer sun starts to set.  Rosewood is unique in that it regularly hosts special programs for families, kids and adults, year-round.  They encourage both residents and visitors to come out and enjoy the peaceful offerings of this nature-surrounded hideaway. From beach fitness programs, like their “Rise & Shine Yoga” classes, to family game nights and geocaching, to brunch and learn workshops, to more adult getaways, like wine and art evening programs, Rosewood Beach provides year-round fun for absolutely everyone!  They even host early childhood programs as well as after-school programs where kids can explore and discover their surrounding environments and go on exciting, hands-on, outdoor adventures.

Rosewood Beach is so much more than your run-of-the-mill beach, and that is why residents are absolutely in love with this natural preserve.  It’s about fun, fostering a sense of community, and learning to take a look away from the fast-paced, man-made environment that usually consumes our daily life.

Rosewood Beach isn’t the only reason why people love to call Highland Park their home. If you’re interested in learning more about the area, contact me at (847) 226-8681 or via email at ebooth@ericboothrealty.com.
